Is Your Pool at the Right Water Level? Here’s Why It Matters

Maintaining the right water level in your pool is more important than many realize. Whether you’re a new pool owner or have years of experience, this simple detail can make a big difference in keeping your pool safe, efficient, and crystal clear. What’s the Ideal Water Level? The water should ideally sit at the midline of your skimmer opening, not too high and not too low. This sweet spot ensures proper circulation and helps your equipment run smoothly. Too Low? When water drops below the skimmer: – The pump may suck in air, causing damage. – Poor circulation can lead to algae growth and debris buildup. Too High? If the water is above the skimmer: – The skimmer won’t work efficiently, and debris will stay in the pool. – Filtration becomes less effective. Pro Tip: After heavy rain or frequent backwashing, always double-check your water level. Adjust with a hose

Why You Should Shock Your Pool Weekly

Keep Your Pool Crystal Clear, Safe, and Swim-Ready! If you own a pool in Fort Bend or anywhere in Texas, you know how fast things can turn from clear to cloudy or worse, green! One of the most important steps to prevent that? Weekly pool shocking. What is Pool Shocking? Shocking means adding a high dose of chlorine or other oxidizing agent to destroy contaminants like bacteria, algae, sweat, sunscreen, and even urine that regular chlorination might not fully eliminate. Why Do It Weekly? Even with proper daily chlorination, organic contaminants build up. If they’re not oxidized regularly, they cause cloudy water, strong chlorine smells, skin irritation and can even allow algae to grow. Here’s what weekly shocking helps with: Prevents algae and cloudy water Keeps water sanitized and safe for swimmers Removes invisible contaminants and chloramines (bad-smelling combined chlorine) Helps your chlorine work more efficiently Pro Tip: Always shock

Spring Pool Care Tips for Fort Bend Pool Owners

Spring is here in Fort Bend County, blue skies, warmer weather, and yes… pollen. As we transition out of winter, your swimming pool needs a little extra attention to stay clean, clear, and ready for the season ahead. Here are some important tips for spring pool maintenance in our area: Clear the Pollen Spring in Texas means pollen — lots of it. You might notice a yellowish film on the water or clogging your skimmer baskets and filters. It’s important to clean skimmers daily and monitor filter pressure. In many cases, a filter clean may be needed even if it was done recently. Balance the Water Chemistry Rising temperatures can throw off your pool’s chemical balance. Make sure your chlorine levels are stable, and don’t forget to check pH, alkalinity, and stabilizer (CYA). Poor balance now can lead to algae blooms later. Inspect Pool Equipment Pumps, timers, and automatic cleaners
