What Happens If You Skip Pool Maintenance for a Week?

It’s easy to miss a pool maintenance day life gets busy. But what seems like just a few days off can quickly turn into a mess that takes much more time (and money) to fix. Here’s what can happen if you skip pool maintenance for just one week: 1. Algae Growth Can Begin Fast Warm temperatures and unbalanced water are the perfect conditions for algae to bloom. Once it starts, it spreads quickly turning your water green and your pool slippery and unsafe. 2. Water Chemistry Gets Out of Balance Without regular testing and adjustment, chlorine levels can drop, pH can swing, and alkalinity can fall out of range. This not only makes swimming unsafe but can also damage your pool’s surface and equipment. 3. Filters and Baskets Get Clogged Leaves, bugs, and debris can build up fast. Without regular cleaning, your system has to work harder putting strain on

Thinking of Emptying Your Pool? Think Again – Especially in Fort Bend!

Draining a swimming pool might seem like a simple task, but in areas like Fort Bend County where the water table is often high it can be a serious risk to your pool’s structure. Here’s why: When you empty a pool, especially an in-ground one, you’re removing the weight that holds it firmly in the ground. And once it does, repairs can cost tens of thousands of dollars—or more. Always consult a pool professional before draining your

How Often Should You REALLY Be Cleaning Your Pool Filter?

It’s one of the most important and most overlooked parts of pool maintenance: the filter. Your filter works hard to trap debris, dirt, oils, and even microscopic particles. But when it’s dirty or clogged, your water circulation suffers, chemicals don’t work as well, and your pool starts looking cloudy or even green. So how often should you clean it? Cartridge Filters: Every 2 – 3 months (or sooner if pressure builds up) DE Filters: Every 3 – 4 months (or sooner if pressure builds up) Sand Filters: Backwash every 4 – 6 weeks, with a full clean once or twice a year Important: These are general guidelines. The actual cleaning frequency depends on pool usage, filter size, and other factors. If you have dogs that swim in the pool, they shed a lot of hair and that can clog the filter quickly. In those cases, more frequent cleaning is often
