Many of our customers ask. “Can my dog safely swim in the pool?” The answer is usually yes, but with a few precautions.
Here are some tips to help keep your furry friends safe:
Watch the Water Chemistry
Dogs bring in oils, dirt, and hair, much more than humans! This can throw off your pool’s balance. Regular professional maintenance ensures the water stays clean and safe for everyone, humans and pups alike.
Rinse Off After Swimming
Chlorine and other pool chemicals can dry out your dog’s skin and coat. A quick rinse with fresh water helps prevent irritation.
Teach Them How to Get Out
Make sure your dog knows where the pool steps or shallow ledge are. Add a pet ramp if needed. Even strong swimmers can get tired or panic if they can’t find a way out.
Keep an Eye on Older Dogs or Small Breeds
Not all dogs are natural swimmers. Always supervise them in the pool, especially if they’re older, short legged, or anxious.
Beware of Drinking Pool Water
While a few gulps are usually fine, too much chlorinated water can upset your dog’s stomach. Always leave fresh water nearby so they’re not tempted to drink from the pool.
At ACORB POOLS, we love pets as much as you do and we’re here to make sure your water stays safe, balanced, and clean all summer long. ![]()
