Spring Pool Care Tips for Fort Bend Pool Owners

Spring is here in Fort Bend County, blue skies, warmer weather, and yes… pollen. As we transition out of winter, your swimming pool needs a little extra attention to stay clean, clear, and ready for the season ahead. Here are some important tips for spring pool maintenance in our area: Clear the Pollen Spring in Texas means pollen — lots of it. You might notice a yellowish film on the water or clogging your skimmer baskets and filters. It’s important to clean skimmers daily and monitor filter pressure. In many cases, a filter clean may be needed even if it was done recently. Balance the Water Chemistry Rising temperatures can throw off your pool’s chemical balance. Make sure your chlorine levels are stable, and don’t forget to check pH, alkalinity, and stabilizer (CYA). Poor balance now can lead to algae blooms later. Inspect Pool Equipment Pumps, timers, and automatic cleaners

Storm Aftercare for Your Pool

Did the storm just pass through? Your pool might look calm on the surface, but storms can throw off your water balance, clog filters, and introduce all kinds of debris and contaminants. Here’s what you should do after a storm: Skim & Remove Debris – Leaves, branches, and dirt can overwhelm your system if left too long. Check & Empty Baskets – Skimmer and pump baskets fill up fast after heavy wind. Test & Balance Water – Rain dilutes chlorine and affects pH. A water test is a must! Inspect Equipment – Make sure your pump and filter are running smoothly. Shock the Pool – Extra organic matter = extra sanitizer needed to stay ahead of algae. Pollen, Pools, and Filters. What You Should Know This Season

Spring is beautiful, but it brings with it something that’s not so great for your pool: pollen. If you’ve noticed yellowish dust on the surface of your water or your pool filter needing more attention than usual, you’re not alone! Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen a surge in pollen levels, and it’s affecting pools across our area. Pollen can quickly clog up filters, making them work harder and reducing water circulation. This can lead to cloudy water, algae growth, and added strain on your pool equipment. What we’re doing: At ACORB Pools, we’re closely monitoring filter pressure during our weekly visits. If we see that your filter pressure is higher than normal, we may recommend a filter cleaning, even if it was done recently. It’s the best way to keep your system running efficiently and your water crystal clear. What you can do: Skim your pool regularly to

Pool technician restoring green pool water to clear condition in Sugar Land

Why Did My Pool Turn Green So Fast?

Ever looked out at your pool and thought, “Wait… wasn’t this crystal clear just a few days ago?” You’re not alone, a green pool can sneak up fast, and here’s why it happens: 1. Algae Blooms, The Usual Suspect Algae love warm water, sunlight, and poor circulation. If chlorine levels drop even for a short time, algae take it as an open invitation. Once they move in, they spread quick. 2. Low or No Chlorine Chlorine is your pool’s best defense. If it’s too low, due to rain, high bather load, or just forgetting to top it off algae take advantage. And in summer? That process speeds up even more. 3. pH and Chemical Imbalance Even if you’ve added chlorine, if the water chemistry (pH, alkalinity, etc.) is off, the chlorine won’t be effective. Think of it like your sanitizer being “on strike.” 4. Improper or Weak Water Circulation If
