How Often Should I Clean My Salt Cell?

If you own a salt pool, your salt cell is the heart of your system. It turns salt into chlorine and keeps your water clean. But if it gets dirty or scaled, it can’t do its job. So… how often should you clean it? ### The short answer: Check your salt cell every 2 – 3 months Clean it only if you see scale or buildup Cleaning too often is actually bad acid wears down the cell plates and shortens its life. ### What you’re looking for When you look inside the cell: * White or crusty buildup = needs cleaning * Clean metal plates = leave it alone ### What causes salt cells to get dirty? * High calcium levels * High pH * Poor water balance Bad chemistry = faster scaling = shorter cell life. ### Ideal salt range Most salt systems work best between: 2,700 – 3,500

Dirty Filters Quietly Damage Your Pool Equipment

A dirty pool filter doesn’t just make water cloudy it puts extra stress on your pump, reduces circulation, and can lead to costly repairs. What happens: • Higher filter pressure • Poor chemical distribution • Pump overheating and wear • Algae and cloudy water Pro tip: If your filter pressure is 8–10 PSI higher than normal, it’s time for a cleaning. Regular filter cleanings protect your equipment and save money long-term. Need a filter cleaning or inspection? Contact ACORB POOLS 832-818-8584 info@acorbllc.com Keep your pool clear. Why Good Water Circulation Matters in Your Pool

One of the most important (and often overlooked) parts of pool care is proper water circulation. Good circulation helps your pool stay clean, balanced, and safe. When circulation is good: Chemicals are evenly distributed Dirt and debris move toward the filter Algae has a harder time growing Water stays clearer and more stable Equipment works more efficiently When circulation is poor, problems show up: Algae in corners, steps, and on the pool floor Cloudy water Chlorine that doesn’t seem to work Higher chemical use with worse results In the Houston area, proper pump run time is especially important due to heat and humidity Winter: run the pump at least 8 hours per day Summer: run the pump at least 12 hours per day What affects circulation? Pump run time Clean skimmers and baskets Filter condition Return jet direction Pool design (steps, benches, shallow areas) Weekly professional service helps ensure your

Keeping Your Pool Healthy: Why Partial Drains Matter

Many pool owners are surprised to learn that clear water doesn’t always mean healthy water. Over time, every pool builds up invisible contaminants that normal cleaning and chemicals can’t fully remove. Sunlight, evaporation, and top-offs slowly increase stabilizer (CYA), calcium, salt, and dissolved solids. When these levels get too high, the water becomes harder to manage and your equipment works harder than it should. That’s where a partial drain can save the day. A partial drain and refill lets us “reset” your pool water without emptying the entire pool. By replacing only 20% –40% of the water, we bring everything back into balance safely and efficiently. Here are the key benefits: • Better chlorine performance • Reduced calcium scaling on plaster and tile • Lower risk of algae blooms • Extended life of pumps, heaters, and equipment • Much safer than a full drain in the Texas heat At ACORB POOLS,
