We regularly test pools with CYA levels 2–4 times higher than recommended. Here’s why circulation works and it’s not magic, it’s physics. Moving water constantly brings warmer water into the pipes Even on very cold nights, your pool water is usually 45 – 60°F, much warmer than the air. When the pump is running: That warmer water is continuously pushed through pipes and equipment Vulnerable areas never sit full of cold, stagnant water As long as warmer water keeps flowing, freezing becomes much harder. Turbulence prevents ice from forming and sticking Ice doesn’t form instantly. It needs: * Still water * Time * A stable surface to grow on Flowing water creates turbulence, which: * Breaks up tiny ice crystals before they can grow * Prevents ice from anchoring to pipe walls No stillness = no ice buildup. Circulation prevents cold
